"The Earth" is a poignant story of a simple looking son, Benjy and his cruelty towards his parents In this story H.E. Beats has drawn attention towards the faulty upbringing of children by the parents and its fact consequence He also advises not to depend on destiny but on honest labour.

Benjy is only son of Johnson. He is a simple boy. his father thinks that he does not prossess intelligence enough to be successful in his life The worried parents took him to a doctor The doctor suggested him to engage in some business for mental development. On his suggestion Johnson bought him some hens. Benjy learnt all the skill of the business very soon Benjy proved to be a Successful man soon he became very rich He fell in Love with florence an attandance. Benjy married florence against the wishes of his parents This marriage destabilized his family.

ultimately, benjy took his parents out of house and left them to their fortune. The author has exposed that Benjy is not all to blame The parents have failed to regenerate human feelings in him.

एक मार्मीक कहानी है एक सामान्य दिखने वाले सतान बेंजी का और उसकी माता पिता के प्रति क्रूरता का इस कहानी में एच० ई० बिट्स ने माता के द्वारा दोषपूर्ण पालन पोषण की ओर ध्यान आकृष्ट किए है। और इसका बुरा परिणाम। वे सलाह दिए है भाग्य पर आश्रित रहने के लिए नही बल्कि कर्म पर बेजी जॉनसन का एकलौता संतान है वह एक सीधा लड़का है उसका पिता सोचते हैं कि उसे जीवन में सफल होने के लिए पर्याप्त बुद्धि नहीं है। चितित माता पिता ने उसे डाक्टर के पास ले गया डाक्टर ने उसके मानसिक विकास के लिए उसे किसी व्यवसाय से जोड़ने का सलाह दिया उसके सलाह पर जॉनसन ने उसे कुछ मुर्गी खरीद दिया बेजी शीघ्र उस व्यवसाय का सब कला सीख गया बेजी सफल व्यक्ति सावित हुआ शीघ्र ही वह अपने क्षेत्र में धनी बन गया और उसे फलोरेंस से प्रेम हो गया। बेजी अपने माता पिता के इच्छा के विरुद्ध फलोरेंस से शादी कर लिया यह शादी उसक परिवार को असतुलित कर दिया अंत में बेजी अपने माता पिता का घर से बाहर निकाल दिया और उसे भाग्य भरोसे सड़क पर छोड़ दिया। 

         लेखक ने दिखलाया है कि बेंजी ही पूरा दोषी नहीं है माता पिता बेजी में मानवीय भावना पैदा करने में असफल रहे।

The earth summary in english class 12

The Earth is a short story written by a well known short story writer, H.E. Bates. This story is about a farmer Johnson and his son Benjy, who appears to be a simple minded person. Johnson believed more in luck than work. He was always very concerned for his only son Benjy. Johnson was dutiful towards him and his wife and very affectionate.

Benjy was a simple minded son. After the advice of a doctor, engaged him in the business of a poultry farm. In course of time, his be senses developed. He became a perfect businessman and earned a lot. Benjy's parents had saved a lot of money for him. When they gave him the passbook, he did not say a word of gratitude. He opened the passbook looked at the amount and put it in his pocket. Benjy's parents did not feel good when he silently put the passbook in his pocket.

When Benjy knew the trick of the trade, he begin to earn money. Benjy deposited a lot of money in his account. When he started earning money, he forget his parents. He purchased the land from sanders that his father had rented.

When he was about 40, he married Florence against the wishes of his parents. Florence was one of Benjy's employees. He did not treat his parents well.

Thus, in this story, we find that a selfish and cunning son deceived his parents and too much trust became the reason for the tragedy of the parents.
